TEDxDelMar Conference For A Diabetes Cure
I am sure many of you have already checked this event out, as it has been reported on the diabetes blogosphere a lot, but just in case you haven’t, here is Allison’s post (from Diabetes Mine) on her experience attending the TEDxDelMar conference:
http://www.diabetesmine.com/2011/10/tedxdelmar-meeting-of-the-diabetes-research-minds.html
The event was held in San Diego, CA, and gathered 17 of the leading researchers working for a type 1 diabetes cure for an all-day conference, where they discussed where we are in the search, as well as the interesting new breakthroughs and developments in the field.
Make sure to watch the video at the end of the article – a number of the researchers talk directly about the issues at hand, and the different avenues for a cure they are exploring. They sound hopeful and cautiously optimistic, suggesting perhaps that we are not too far off from getting some exciting results.
Events like this do a good job of reinvigorating the community and getting us motivated to keep fighting. We have to do our best though to make sure the word “soon” this time holds up to its meaning.
