How Much Money is Going into Type 1 Diabates Foundations?

July 13, 2011

The JDCA report on Type 1 Diabetes Charitable Foundations concluded that for the last fiscal year there was $547 million going into the 4 main foundations. And that is just the data that is publicly available. It shows that fundraising efforts are going well, and the resources definitely exist to fund a very strong and focused effort to develop a practical cure for Type 1 diabetes.

The core revenues generated came from:

  • Donor Contributions
  • Special Events (fundraising)
  • Government Grants
  • Program Services
  • Miscellaneous revenues

Investment revenues such as dividend and interest income also built up the number.

The main organizations researched where: American Diabetes Associated (ADA), Diabetes research Institute Foundation (DRIF), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) and Joslin Diabetes Center (Joslin).

A very interesting breakdown of the money going into these foundations, including the full report can be found here: (Charitable Organization Revenue Models – June 30 2011)
